A person who had not yet completed managed isolation was given an exemption to visit a patient in Christchurch Hospital yesterday.
Canterbury District Health Board (CDHB) confirmed the visit took place on Monday, despite that person not having completed the 14-day quarantine period.
In a statement, CDHB executive lead for Covid-19 Ralph La Salle said guests leaving MIQ facilities were required to return negative Covid-19 tests.
She said appropriate PPE was used and a plan was in place to protect staff, other visitors and hospital patients.
