Threat made in court closes part of Wellington's CBD

Cordons put up around the Wellington District Court this afternoon have been lifted, and the police have left the area.

Earlier, police closed off some central Wellington streets around the Ballance Street and Lambton Quay area.

They said the building had been evacuated while authorities responded to the incident.

RNZ understands a bomb threat was made.

During the incident police advised people to avoid the area.
