A body believed to be that of missing fisherman Myung Kang was found washed up on Woodhill Forest Beach near Muriwai in west Auckland, police say.
Police said a member of the public notified them after finding the body about 8pm last night.
Formal identification was yet to be completed, but the body was believed to be that of the 57-year-old Korean fisherman who went missing at Bethells Beach on 5 January.
Search and Rescue teams, life guards and police helicopters have been involved in an extensive search to find him since his family reported him missing on Sunday evening.
"Police's thoughts and condolences are with Mr Kang's family at this very upsetting time," Waitematā detective senior sergeant Callum McNeill said.
"Police would like thank all of those people involved in the search and the members of the public who came forward with information and sightings of Mr Kang."
The death will be referred to the Coroner.
