"Positive lines" of inquiry are being followed to find those responsible for the death of a woman in Palmerston North.
The woman was found with serious injuries at a Roslyn address of Featherston Street shortly after midnight on Thursday.
Detective inspector Craig Sheridan said the woman was given medical treatment but died at the scene.
A homicide investigation was then launched.
Sheridan said the Central District Police team were continuing to piece together what happened leading up to the woman's death.
"The deceased will be removed from the scene today and is yet to be formally identified with a post-mortem examination due to take place this afternoon," he said.
"Police investigators, along with forensic specialists and ESR scientists will remain on scene into the weekend conducting a scene examination."
