Churches appeal for help for Solomons flood victims

12:52 pm on 8 April 2014

Churches throughout the Pacific have been urged to help communities affected by the flooding in Solomon Islands.

The General Secretary of the Pacific Conference of Churches, the Reverend Francois Pihaatae, says Christians have a duty to reach out to all those in need, regardless of faith or nationality.

He says natural disasters provide a time for reflection and an opportunity to sympathise, console and strengthen people in need.

The Reverend Pihaatae suggests that churches throughout the Pacific wanting to help the relief effort should liaise directly with authorities in Solomon Islands or their associated congregations.
