The Port of Lyttelton says it is working with WorkSafe New Zealand to improve employees' safety after Brad Fletcher died last week in an accident.
Port management met with WorkSafe yesterday to discuss health and safety conditions after Brad Fletcher died last week when a scissor lift he was working on toppled over.
The 40-year-old father of three is the third employee to have died working at the port in the past year.
Port chief executive Peter Davie said it shares a common goal with WorkSafe to ensure worker safety.
He said the company's thoughts are with Mr Fletcher's family, friends, and workmates at this terribly sad time.
Brad Fletcher's funeral was this morning.
