If These Walls Could Talk profiles New Zealand street artists Askew One, Benjamin Work, BMD, Elliot Francis Stewart and Mica Still.
Producer Ross Liew, who is a street artist himself, says one of the reasons he wanted to make the series was lack of info about New Zealand artists.
“Because I'm so close to it, I kind of know the stories of the individuals and the characters; I know their work and I know their path way but there’s nothing around that - where you could find that information if you didn't know these people personally.”
ASKEW ONE
Elliot “Askew” O’Donnell discusses operating across the worlds of graffiti and art, his interest in the discussion around contemporary Pacific identity, and the challenges of prioritising his art practice ahead of commercial opportunities.
BENJAMIN WORK
Benjamin Work's path has led to a well-regarded exhibition practice and notable contributions to the progression of Tongan art and culture. He shares his love for what the freedom to paint outside means to him and his extended family and friends.
BMD
BMD share stories, insights and anecdotes from their hyper-active exploits. Addressing the challenges they face with their inherent level of ambition - and doing so with good-natured humour.
ELLIOT FRANCIS STEWART
Elliot Francis Stewart is a prodigious talent with a great deal of wisdom and personality. He addresses a wide range of issues from a unique perspective.
Mica Still is an artist who would probably prefer to let her work do the talking. But we sat her down and asked all manner of questions anyway. She reveals some the motivation behind her work and how she tackles the challenges of creating her art.
