Another 250 Tongans are being given the chance to obtain New Zealand residence visas through an annual ballot.
The Tongans have had their applications drawn from around 22,000 applications.
Under Immigration New Zealand's Pacific Access Category, 650 places are available for nationals from Tonga; Fiji gets 250 visas - and Tuvalu and Kiribati get 75 each.
Samoa has a separate quota for 11,000 migrants.
New Zealand immigration officials said details of which Tongans had won the ballot would be announced next Friday, and those applicant will have until 10 March to lodge formal visa applications.
