Public consultations on US military training plans for the Northern Marianas have been extended by another fortnight.
The consultations on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement will now end on 17th of August.
The Marianas Variety reports the extension was granted following a request by the CNMI because of the recent telecommunications outage.
It meant people could not access the web to provide their comments.
The islands of Tinian and Pagan are being eyed as sites for the U.S. military to conduct live fire exercises and amphibious landing training.
Under the proposal Pagan would also be the target for so-called inert bombs.
