Rapper Coolio has died in Los Angeles, TMZ has reported.

TMZ reports that Coolio's manager, Jarez told them the rapper was found lying on the bathroom floor at a friend's house on Wednseday afternoon (LA time).

Paramedics were called but Coolio was pronounced dead at the scene. Jarez said paramedics suspected he suffered cardiac arrest but an official cause of death has not been determined.

Coolio, whose real name is Artis Leon Ivey Jr, rose on the LA rap scene in the late 80s, but cracked it internationally in 1995 when he released Gangsta's Paradise for the soundtrack of the Michelle Pfeiffer film Dangerous Minds.

Coolio had several others hits including 1994's Fantastic Voyage, 1,2,3,4 (Sumpin' New) and It's All the Way Live (Now).
