Four young people who escaped from a youth justice facility in Canterbury and spent the night in its roof cavity have all come down this morning.
A group of five broke out of their unit and climbed onto the roof at the Te Puna Wai o Tuhinapo facility near Rolleston yesterday shortly before 11am. One of them came down early Saturday evening.
Oranga Tamariki said the remaining four were assisted down by police using a ladder around 10.45am Sunday.
Deputy chief executive Mike Bush said it was a serious situation and was managed with extreme caution.
One staff member was injured during the incident and has a fractured wrist.
