Community housing providers are alarmed that Treasury forecasts house prices will rise at roughly double the rate of wages - hitting a 29 percent increase by 2025.

The government says it will announce its housing policy package earlier next year, in light of the forecast.

The chief executive of Community Housing Aotearoa, Scott Figenshow told housing reporter Eva Corlett the problem is solveable if proper long-term plans are put in place.
