A German man has been charged with careless driving causing death after a fatal car accident in Canterbury yesterday.
The man's Honda Odyssey and a Toyota Corolla collided at an intersection near Springston.
Stephanie Anne Ellis, 54, from Leeston, died at the scene.
The 26-year-old driver of the Honda has been summonsed to appear in Christchurch District Court on Friday.
The police and Victim Support are working with Mrs Ellis's family.
