More than 30 police are investigating the death of a young woman at a Dunedin flat party on Saturday night.

Nineteen-year old Sophia Crestani, who was a second year student at the University of Otago, was fatally injured as hundreds of people tried to flee the flat party on Dundas Street on Saturday night.

RNZ Otago Southland reporter Tess Brunton spoke to Area Prevention Manager Otago Coastal, Wil Black, a short time ago.

He says the scene examination is complete but it's still early days in the investigation.
