An Australian man is receiving medical treatment for physical injuries following his arrest in Solomon Islands, where he's been charged with six counts of illegally buying gold.
37 year old Colin Jackson, - described as a scrap metal dealer - was held overnight in Honiara's central police station cells but the following morning was found to be in need of medical attention for physical injuries.
His condition prevented him from facing court yesterday.
An internal police investigation is under way.
Jackson's arrest comes just two weeks after 61-year-old Australian Vietnam War veteran Bill Johnson was arrested and charged in Honiara with plotting to assassinate Solomons Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare.
Johnson was released on bail on February 7th to reappear on February 21st after the Solomons' chief prosecutor warned police about concocting stories to suit their own agendas.
