The Government is committing to increase its support for the Māori economy, by setting a five percent procurement target for Māori businesses.

That target has been set so public service agencies use Māori businesses more regularly for the $42-billion it spends on goods and services annually.

Māori Development Minister, Willie Jackson, told Māni Dunlop the move will encourage the public service to cast their net wider when awarding contracts.
