New Zealand Post said mail would be delivered in Christchurch again on Thursday, now that the weather had improved.
A spokesperson said snow and ice had disrupted services for the previous three days.
Deliveries were expected to return to normal on Thursday, apart from some properties where residual snow could still be a hazard.
