A woman has been charged with careless driving after five people were hit and badly injured by a car in the Manukau Westfield this afternoon.
The 34-year-old woman has been charged with careless driving causing injury and will remain in police custody to appear in the Manukau District Court tomorrow. Police said further charges are likely.
A police spokesperson said emergency services responded to the incident in Manukau at 1pm.
In a statement, St John said that four people were taken to Middlemore Hospital, one in a critical condition and three in a serious condition.
A further person received moderate injuries and was treated at the scene.
