The birds have been building large nests on a line that feeds power to Tirau, Matamata and Hinuera townships and surrounding areas.

Transpower said the nests are creating supply issues, and need to be urgently removed to prevent prolonged outages.

A power outage is expected between 10.30am and 2.30pm today so the nests can be removed.
