The South Canterbury district of Waimate has taken out the top spot for the best tasting tap water in the country.
Every year, municipalities around the motu compete for top honours in the National Water Taste Test competition, run by the Water Industry Operations Group - which represents water professionals.
Waimate beat out fierce competition from finalists including the Bay of Plenty town, Athenree; the South Canterbury town of Geraldine, and the Palmerston North suburb of Turitea.
