Three charged over robbery of a Rotorua liquor store

Another three people have been arrested in relation to an aggravated robbery that occurred in Rotorua last month.

On the evening of 31 July four people armed with weapons entered Kawaha Point Liquor Store and threatened staff, Detective Sergeant Tony Colby said.

The group tried to steal alcohol from the store and assaulted a staff member, who tried to intervene.

The offenders then escaped, Detective Sergeant Colby said, except for a 14-year-old, who was stopped by a member of the public and then arrested.

An 18-year-old youth is due to appear in Rotorua District Court tomorrow facing charges relating to aggravated robbery and unlawfully taking a motor vehicle.

A 14-year-old boy and another 18-year-old youth are due to appear on charges relating to aggravated robbery and unlawfully taking a motor vehicle, in Rotorua Youth Court.

A 12-year-old boy will appear on an aggravated robbery charge in the Rotorua Youth Court at a later date, Colby said.
