An advisor at Te Wananga o Aotearoa says he is driven to get more Maori and Pasifika people to want to take up carpentry.
Today, the institute has launched its new carpentry app, which pulled together all course material for its 36-week long tertiary programme.
Students enrolled in Gisborne and Huntly, who were studying the Level four programme, would trial the software this year.
National Carpentry advisor at the Wananga Marty Snee was adamant the app would help tangata whenua and Pacific people to do well in the programme.
Mr Snee recalled how 21 students, both tangata whenua and Pacific from South Auckland secured jobs last year which meant they were able to put food on the table for their families, he said.
