Drugs seized in Vanuatu sent from South America

Australian police says an estimated 750 kilogrammes of cocaine seized in Vanuatu this week was sent from South America.

The drugs, with a street value of more than 300 million US dollars, were found aboard a yacht, the Raj.

There have been no arrests in connection with the drugs seizure.

Police say it is the biggest cocaine haul in the history of Vanuatu.

International agencies say since they began cooperating in 2010, close to two tonnes of cocaine destined for Australia had been seized from

five vessels, with authorities in Tonga, the Cook Islands and New Caledonia also involved.
