Oceania rest home staff to strike again

20:38 pm on 5 March 2012

Rest home staff employed by Oceania will take strike action again on Wednesday after mediation on Monday to resolve their pay dispute failed.

Workers walked off the job last week for two hours over pay claims.

A union spokesperson says after four days of mediation, Oceania has refused to budge and is now trying to bully its staff into accepting less than other aged care workers have already received.

Alastair Duncan says 21 rest homes will be involved in a second round of strike action on Wednesday from 5am until 9am and from 4pm until 6pm.
