Trial date set for Joeli Rankin murder accused

The man charged over the death of a Kāinga Ora resident last month has appeared again in the High Court in Auckland.

The man, 25, made his second appearance on Wednesday.

He is charged with murder and common assault following the death of Joeli Rankin in Mt Albert on 26 February.

Justice Matthew Downs set the man's trial for July next year. It is expected to last three weeks.

The man was remanded in custody to reappear for a case review in May.
