Police received a report of a person being shot on Carrington Road about 2.20pm.

Afterwards, a person arrived at Dargaville Hospital with a facial wound, and another person went to a medical centre with a gunshot injury.

The injures were not believed to be life-threatening, police said.

Armed police were in the area as a precaution while inquiries were ongoing, police said.

They were seeking sightings of a charcoal or black-coloured Nissan people mover, similar to a Nissan Wingroad, seen leaving the Carrington Road area around the time of the incident.

Its registration plate was, or similar to, CAK346.

Police asked anyone who saw the vehicle to call 111 immediately and not approach it.
