A 29-year-old woman has been charged with murder over the death of a man in Northland at the weekend.
Detective Inspector Rhys Johnson said police were called to Kaitaia Hospital shortly before midnight on Saturday when a seriously injured man was dropped off in a vehicle.
He later died.
"Police had been making a number of inquiries to determine the circumstances around the man's death and arrested a woman last night," Johnson said.
Johnson said the victim and the arrested woman were known to each other.
"As such, we are not currently seeking anyone else in relation to this matter."
A police presence would remain in the area.
"While at the centre of this investigation is a tragic incident, we are pleased to have been able to bring a quick resolution to the victim's grieving whānau."
The woman was due to appear in Kaitaia District Court on Monday.
