Acting Detective Inspector Kevan Verry says a 45-year-old man is now before the courts after a search warrant at a Whangārei property.

Verry said police found five shotguns, two rifles, methamphetamine and a number of stolen vehicles including two jet-skis.

As a result of the investigation. a 45-year-old man with gang connections has been arrested and will appear in Whanganui District Court on a raft of charges.

The man will face charges including possession of methamphetamine for supply, possession of cannabis for supply, unlawful possession of a pistol, unlawful possession of ammunition and multiple charges of receiving property.

Verry said the investigation was ongoing and more charges could be laid.

"We want to disrupt organised crime groups and the harm their actions cause to our communities.

"The social impact cannot be underestimated, and Police will continue to take a zero-tolerance approach," Verry said.
