A Christchurch City Councillor says it is not fair the Government is blaming councillors for slowing down the earthquake recovery process when several are battling to get decisions made faster.
Earthquake Recovery Minister Gerry Brownlee says that in the coming year he expects to see an increase in the council's output and performance and for it to recognise that decisions need to be made quickly.
Mr Brownlee says there needs to be greater pace in council decision-making, particularly regarding consents, and the council needs to recognise that things can't be done in a business as usual way.
Councillor Yani Johanson says a number of councillors are pushing for things to be done more urgently, but there is a lack of information and clarity about processes.
Mr Johanson says the Government and its departments and senior council management are primarily responsible for holding things up.
