The Merseyside club raced to a 3-0 lead shortly after half-time, before conceding a late consolation goal.

It's their first league win in almost a month, and moves them above their local rivals Liverpool, who lost 3-0 to Manchester United in the previous day's big clash.

The result condemns QPR to their eighth away defeat in a row, and leaves them in the EPL's relegation zone in 18th.

Everton midfielder Ross Barkley scored his side's first goal with a 20-yard strike, and says he hopes the club can now kick on.

"I thought it was on target when I hit it but the deflection helped, it got us under way and we got the three points, that is the main thing."

"Also getting three goals against QPR was great too. We will take each game as they come and hopefully get things right on the pitch."

QPR boss Harry Redknapp said the scoreline flattered Everton.

"I was not that disappointed with the performance tonight though, I thought we played OK," he said.

"You need a little luck sometimes and it went their way a little bit tonight."
