Former Black Cap to play BBL in Australia
Former Black Caps fast bowler Adam Milne has been released from his Central Stags contract to play for the Sydney Thunder in Australia's Big Bash League.
Milne will remain available to play for the Stags before heading across the Tasman for the BBL, which starts in early December.
"Naturally we are disappointed to lose Adam. He is a quality player, and a valued member of our squad," Central Districts CEO Pete de Wet said.
"Adam felt the opportunity to play in the Big Bash was too good to pass up and when he approached us to consider his request, he did so knowing that he would have to give up his CD Cricket contract to do so.
"This is not something that Adam took lightly. We now have the opportunity to contract another player, and we will announce further details around this when appropriate."
Milne will link up with former Black Caps bowling coach Shane Bond, who is coach of the Thunder.
Adam Milne last played international cricket in November 2018, with his career having been disrupted by injuries.

England football's 'Toothless Tiger' Nobby Stiles dies aged 78
England's World Cup winning midfielder Nobby Stiles, whose robust game earned him the nickname the 'Toothless Tiger', has died aged 78 after a long battle with illness, his family said.
The former Manchester United player was an uncompromising competitor who won 28 caps for England, lifting the World Cup in 1966.
He provided one of that final's most iconic images as he danced around the Wembley pitch after the hosts beat West Germany with the trophy in one hand and his false teeth in the other.
"The Stiles family are sad to announce that Nobby Stiles passed away peacefully today surrounded by his family after a long illness," a family statement read. "The family kindly ask for privacy at this sad time."
Stiles returned to Wembley for another major final two years later with United as Matt Busby's side became the first English club to lift the European Cup when they beat twice-winners Benfica.
The midfielder made nearly 400 appearances for United from 1960-1971 before he moved to Middlesbrough and later finished his career as a player-coach at Preston North End.

Russian athletics federation staff receive lengthy bans in Lysenko case
The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) suspended former Russian athletics federation officials Elena Ikonnikova and Elena Orlova for eight years and six years respectively for obstructing an anti-doping investigation into high jumper Danil Lysenko.
Lysenko, who won silver in the high jump at the 2017 world championships, failed to file his whereabouts on three occasions and was provisionally suspended in 2018 as three strikes in a 12-month period constituted an anti-doping violation.
Last year, the AIU concluded that federation officials had provided "false explanations and forged documents" to the AIU to explain Lysenko's whereabouts failures.
The tribunal found that both Ikonnikova and Orlova had failed to provide their mobile phones and electronic storage devices for inspection by the AIU in relation to the investigation into Lysenko's whereabouts failures.
Russia's athletics federation has been suspended since a 2015 report commissioned by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) found evidence of mass doping among the country's track and field athletes.
