Desmond Tutu bows out of public life

Anti-apartheid activist Archbishop Desmond Tutu is retiring from public life.

Archbishop Tutu, 79, was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1984 for campaigning to resolve apartheid.

Two years later, he became the first black Archbishop of Cape Town.

Apartheid finally fell in 1994.

Archbishop Tutu also chaired the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, which allowed victims of apartheid to speak up about their experiences.
