Motorists advised of tree felling on SH1

08:32 am on 8 November 2014

Motorists are being warned of delays on SH1 to the west of Christchurch this weekend, as work begins on felling 300 to 400 mature eucalyptus trees.

The New Zealand Transport Agency said the trees were near the entrance to Clearwater Resort on Johns Road.

It said, to enable the safe removal of the trees, an exclusion zone of three times the tree height in all directions needed to be created.

Felling will begin about 6.30am this morning and tomorrow morning, and continue up to 9pm.

Drivers are advised to consider alternative routes this weekend.
