An expert in international law says French Polynesian groups who have filed a complaint against France in the International Criminal Court are unlikely to be successful.
The French Polynesian independence leader Oscar Temaru told a UN committee that a complaint for crimes against humanity was lodged earlier this month.
France said it would defend itself in the case.
Joris Larik, a specialist in the International Criminal Court at Leiden University in The Netherlands, said the case would have many hurdles.
