There is one new case of Covid-19 in managed isolation and quarantine facilities, one historical case and none in the community today.
In a statement, the Ministry of Health said the one new case in managed isolation in Auckland was a recent returnee who arrived in the country from Indonesia via Singapore on 15 May.
The historical case was also a recent returnee who arrived on 9 May from Japan and was in a Christchurch managed isolation facility, it said.
The seven-day rolling average of new cases detected at the border was one.
One previously reported case has now recovered and the total number of active cases in New Zealand today is 19.
The total number of confirmed cases is 2297.
The ministry said since 1 January 2021, there have been 61 historical cases, out of a total of 481 cases.
The total number of Covid-19 tests processed to date is 2,085,298.
Case under investigation
The ministry said a mariner on a ship returned a weak positive test for Covid-19, but had since tested negative.
"The person has been at sea for 25 days, and the test result has a high CT value."
The mariner was tested to allow them to disembark to receive medical treatment. They remained on board the ship, which was docked in Bluff, the ministry said.
"The Public Health Unit has assessed the public health risk as negligible."
It was thought the weak positive result indicated the case was historical.
Wellington wastewater
The ministry said results from the wastewater samples collected from the Wellington region were expected to be revealed this evening.
"These new samples were collected following two earlier samples returning weak positive results that are likely due to recently recovered cases continuing to shed the virus."
The ministry was encouraging anyone with symptoms, especially if they were in the Wellington region, to get tested promptly. It said the advice also applied to recent visitors to the Wellington region.
Yesterday there were five cases of the novel coronavirus in managed isolation.
