Backrow forward Inoke Afeaki will line up as Tonga captain as he competes in his third rugby World Cup in France starting in September.
TheTongan squad was finally announced by tournament organisers a week later than planned, following the resolution of some internal problems within the Tongan federation.
The TRU were hoping to delay naming the squad until August 20 but the International Rugby Board insisted that all lists be submitted no later than the August 14th deadline.
Tonga open their campaign against the United States on September 12th before facing Samoa, South Africa and England.
