Fiji is making moves to stub out the illegal tobacco trade in products including single cigarettes, shisha tobacco, vaping products and chewing tobacco.
The Minister of Health said it was critical to curb the increasing illicit trade and ensure such products are imported legally.
Ifereimi Waqainabete said there was a rise in sales of single cigarettes and products like shisha and e-cigarettes coming into the country through courier agents.
A new cross ministry policy to cut out illicit tobacco is being introduced, he said.
The World Health Organisation is supporting Fiji's moves to strengthen tobacco control.
