A child has died on a Samoa Airways flight from Auckland to Apia on Boxing Day.
The Samoa Observer reported the airline saying a medical situation involving a passenger occurred during the flight to which the cabin crew responded by treating the passenger with oxygen.
The airline said the passenger's condition deteriorated and resuscitation was performed by the crew who also used the onboard defibrillator.
The passenger had a medical history not disclosed to the airline, it said.
The police told the Observer they were investigating the death of a young boy on the flight.
