The African side sits at number six in the world rankings, six places above Fiji.

The loss was expected by the Pearls coach Vicki Wilson and follows their 83-38 defeat to Jamaica on Wednesday.

With growth and development Fiji's goal at the tournament, Wilson says an education awaits her players in tonight's game against New Zealand's Silver Ferns.

"We hope that we provide a challenge. But we are very much aware of the terrific skill and the fitness level that the ferns bring to the international game," said Vicki Wilson.

"So for each individual they have their targets and what they will be attempting to do and we want them to ensure that they come off the court knowing that they tried everything possible and maybe have picked up a few tips along the way and tricks on how to be better."

In last night's other fixture New Zealand have been left with some serious soul-searching to do after they were defeated by a dominating Jamaica side 59-51 at the Taini Jamison Trophy series in Auckland.
