Vanuatu PM warns opposition

06:44 am on 17 July 2014

Vanuatu's Prime Minister, Joe Natuman, has accused opposition MPs behind a failed attempt to file a motion of no confidence of trying to destabilise the country for their own selfish reasons.

Mr Natuman, who became Prime Minister two months ago after overthrowing Moana Carcasses in a no confidence motion, says moves to overthrow his government will not be tolerated.

He says it's clear that the opposition wants to return to power so they can continue with their "questionable dealings."

Mr Natuman gave an assurance that his government is in safe hands and is working to get Vanuatu on the right track to prosperity.
