New Zealand tennis number one Marina Erakovic has been beaten in the semifinals of the Taipei Open.
Erakovic, who entered the tournament with a world ranking of 114 was defeated by local player Kai-Chen Chang 6-3 6-2 in just over an hour in the semifinal.
Chang won on the back of her superior serve, not conceding a break point in the match and showed great ability on return as well, winning four out five break points on Erakovic's serve.
In the tournament Erakovic still managed three solid wins and gained enough points which should improve her ranking by around 10 places.
She now takes part in the Hawaiian Open in Honolulu which features Chinese No.1 Zhang Sihuai and former Wimbledon finalist Sabine Lisicki among its top players.
