A policing consultant from Singapore has told Papua New Guinea police that the constabulary should be run like a business.
MK Vamanan Nair, speaking during a police commissioners' conference in Port Moresby, said if the police force is run as a business it would better serve its customers who are the people of PNG.
Mr Nair, who is a former policeman, said, just like any other organisation, police need to understand the commercial aspects involved in running the force to make it efficient, effective and stable.
He said if it is run this way it will win the respect and confidence of the people to support the police.
