New bill will complete American Samoa amnesty

More than 2,400 foreign nationals who registered during American Samoa's recent amnesty campaign will be allowed to live legally in American Samoa if the Immigration Amnesty bill is approved in the next regular session.

The Amnesty Bill, send to lawmakers last week, will temporarily increase the quota now allowed by law.

In a letter to Fono leaders, the governor, Lolo Matalasi Moliga says the government spent several months trying to provide a pathway to amnesty for the many foreigners in the country illegally.
