Police in Wellington have arrested a woman, who they say imported enough ephedrine to make $500,000 worth of the illegal drug methamphetamine, also known as 'P'.
Ephedrine is a Class C Controlled drug and is a precursor for methamphetamine.
A joint operation by police and Customs officers led to search warrants being executed at two addresses in the suburb of Newtown on Thursday and the arrest of a woman, 24.
Detective Inspector Darrin Thomson says approximately 2kg of ephedrine was seized.
He says that's conservatively estimated to be able to make $500,000 worth of P.
