A 57-year-old will appear alongside Destiny Church leader Brian Tamaki, who revealed last night he had been charged over the event.

The police say the pair will be charged under the Covid-19 Public Health Response Act and alert level 3 order.

About 1000 people are estimated to have been at the event, which Tamaki spoke at for about 45 minutes, protesting various aspects of the Covid-19 response.

Relieving Auckland City District Commander Superintendent Shanan Gray said the pair are due to appear in court next Tuesday.

The police investigation is continuing and police are not ruling out further charges or enforcement action against others who attended the event, Gray said.
