CNMI police chief declares war on hard drugs

16:29 pm on 23 January 2014

The Northern Marianas police chief has declared war on traffickers of crystal methamphetamine or ice.

The Department of Public Safety Commissioner, James Deleon Guerrero, has warned all law enforcers to prepare for a long, expensive and dangerous battle against distributors of the illicit substance.

He says the department plans to wage a war against ice are now being finalised and that when the time comes, there is no turning back.

He likewise called on lawmakers to stop bickering about the lack of funds and to pass critical legislation making drug-testing mandatory for law enforcement officers.
