The taskforce is looking into the future of education and the state of the public school system.

Members included Dr Salu Hunkin Finau a former Director of Education and Steve Watson, the Governor's Chief Legal Counsel and they presented plans to the community last week.

The aim is to get graduates better prepared for either higher education or working in a trade.

Dr Finau Hunkin said the DOE could become a semi independent agency, overseen by a Board of Governors with seven members and a Superintendent of Education.
