The Greens are promising to invest in urban food farms in places such as Auckland city centre, if elected.

As part of its agriculture policy, the party said it would provide $10 million a year to support community gardens and composting initiatives.
The announcement was made at an urban farm called For the Love of Bees on Auckland's Symonds Street, which is able to feed 35- 40 local families.

The Greens' Auckland Central candidate Chlöe Swarbrick said something similar could be replicated for only a few hundred thousand dollars in other parts of Auckland and the rest of the country.
Swarbrick said the farms provide jobs, education and resources which will benefit the city and its people.
And she believed there are already available spaces in city centres that could be used.
"A sensible next investment would be to turn the extension of Albert Park, as cut off by Bowen Road, into an urban farm for all to enjoy. A one-off investment would regenerate kai, jobs, soil, organic waste and sequester carbon emissions," she said.
Swarbrick said currently it was a bit of an urban wasteland and an urban farm would be much more beautiful.
