06:00 am on 17 October 2022

Series Classification: PG (Parental Guidance)

Ari Kerssens is an advocate for blindness and people with low vision who identifies as being gay.  He is very proud of who he is both as a queer man and disabled man and express himself through make up, clothing and his cane.

More recently Ari has looked to “Make the white cane sexy” by setting up a group for blind people to jazz up their canes and express themselves through their own lens.

It’s a way for them to express Disabled pride and also for Ari, Queer pride.  A big fan of nightlife, Ari will look to take his personalised cane for a night on the town along Karangahape Road to see how accessible it is.
