The Tautua Samoa opposition party is calling on the government to conduct a ballot draw to ensure a transparent process in dealing with applications for jobs under New Zealand's RSE scheme.
The opposition leader, Palusalue Fa'apo II, says the ballot would be similar to the way Samoa deals with the annual permanent residency quota for New Zealand.
Palusalue says his party has had unsuccessful RSE applicants approach it with their concerns over not being selected.
He says Australia has a similar programme now, with similar jobs, and the government should now put a transparent system in place.
